Uniting the Best of Moviegoing in One App.

Imagine an application that takes the finest aspects of the moviegoing experience and elevates them to new heights. Sounds incredible, doesn’t it?

Our challenge was to provide Classic Cinemas with an irresistible edge, captivating movie lovers like never before. To accomplish this, my team and I delved deep into the digital landscape, meticulously crafting an application that not only prioritized user experience but also revolutionized the customer journey.

As the product designer, fueled by my passion for movies, this project felt like a dream come true. Collaborating closely with a talented UX designer, we embarked on a strategic path.

Our journey commenced with a comprehensive analysis of existing movie applications. While some excelled in certain areas, none fulfilled all the requirements. We understood that to satisfy all consumer needs, we had to create something truly innovative. And so, we embarked on mapping not just the online experience, but the entire moviegoing adventure.

Simplifying the user flow wasn’t a daunting task, as moviegoing itself is inherently straightforward. However, initially, payments posed a significant challenge. Fortunately, with mobile security reaching acceptable levels, this challenge transformed into our greatest advantage. By seamlessly integrating payment options into user accounts, we eliminated any obstacles hindering the consumer’s path.

The initial screens of our application aimed to captivate users, drawing them into the experience from the start. Once logged in, users would seamlessly discover movies playing at the nearest theater, unless they had already selected a favorite.
However, it was in the subsequent stages where we truly innovated the customer experience. We devised a system that allowed users to bypass not only the ticket window but also the concession stand. Depending on the theater, online consumers could visit dedicated stations. Meanwhile, our application empowered employees to scan a barcode, ensuring food and beverages were either served at the station or delivered right to their seats. Truly a game-changer.

Design played a pivotal role in captivating moviegoers, and we wanted our application to be just as visually enticing as the movies themselves. It all began with a captivating loading screen, setting the tone for the immersive experience to come.

The iterative process proved invaluable, enabling us to expand our creativity beyond initial expectations. For instance, we enhanced the description area, allowing for a more personalized movie selection experience by incorporating users’ avatars through their social media profiles.

Our final screens boasted a multitude of fantastic features. In the concession section, users could indulge in their favorite combos or explore treats from their preferred categories. During the checkout process, loyal members of our rewards program could even redeem points towards their total, adding an extra touch of delight.

The results were nothing short of extraordinary. This application, a masterpiece in its own right, seamlessly merged research, architecture, and design to deliver a meticulously crafted consumer experience. A testament to the collective success of our team and a project that will always hold a special place in our hearts.
